Table in the Clearing: A Thanksgiving Ritual

Since 2000, we have been holding an alternative Thanksgiving ritual at a New England prison for men. (See http://www.truthout.org/1122093.) Now we are setting the Table at Geryunant. (No food served but plenty of nourishment provided.) Come welcome the parts of ourselves we have exiled. Welcome as well those people with whom we are ready to re-connect. Living or dead, people we have been cut off from can all be invited to the Table. Gena Corea and Helen Hawes co-host along with Hokhma (Holy Wisdom). Hokhma has created a sense of Self big enough to include all parts of our self and of our community too. When we invite the outcasts within ourselves to come and sit around a Table where all are equal, we simultaneously help our society bring home its own exiles. The imprisoned, the homeless, the ill, the challenged are also vital parts of our wholeness. November 21, 2010. 2-5 p.m. By donation.
